About Coffee Talk Moms
Coffee Talk Moms was inspired by two Houston mompreneurs passionate about critical topics regarding education and family lifestyle. Our mission is to provide a platform to inform and engage families of relevant information regarding news, social issues, and important updates in our community. Wendy and Amanda's topics of discussion cover everything from the social and emotional connection of a child and parent, academic skill gaps, everyday learning activities to answering practical questions regarding college admission and standardized testing.
Amanda Vlastas, a single mom of two boys, is the adventurous spirit behind West University Moms – a resource website that provides moms and families with a “one-stop-shop” platform to find curated lists of local resources, great deals, activities, and events in West University and surrounding Houston neighborhoods. One of her favorite sections of the website is the "Meet a Houston Mom", where she interviews a mom in the community and acknowledges their accomplishments. She has completed a decade of personal-development education and training and is passionate about helping moms overcome obstacles including the drastic change of becoming a parent.
Prior to being a mom, Amanda was a freelance photographer and writer in California her native state; she contributed to city publications and travel guides, navigating through over 55 countries researching the best each destination had to offer. She also enjoys contributing to local charities including Child Advocates, the Children’s Assessment Center and #theredproduction.
